Houston (SPORTSRADIO 610) - Alex Bregman will participate in the Home Run Derby during All-Star week in Washington D.C.. He is the fifth Astros player to do so and the first since Lance Berkman in 2008. He will be the fourth seeded hitter and faceoff against the Cubs' Kyle Schwarber in the first round of the derby.

Bregman leads the Astros with 19 home runs on the season. That matches the amount of home runs he had in the entirety of the 2017 season. The opportunity to be in the derby along with an All-Star was too good pass up for Alex.

"I think it's going to be a blast to be able to hit in front of the fans in D.C. and hopefully represent the Astros well. It's someting you always watched as a kid. I couldn't let the opportunity pass," Bregman said.
