Houston (SPORTSRADIO 610) - Alex Bregman hit a walk-off double with the bases loaded in the ninth to lead the Astros to a comeback win from a one-run deficit and beat the Tampa Bay Rays by a final score of 5-4. He has both of the Astros' walk-off wins this season. It was also their 12th consecutive victory which ties a franchise record for longest win streak.

With his game-winning double, Bregman also extended his on-base streak to 29 games which is the second-longest active streak in baseball right now. The offensive also had a charge from Jose Altuve who went 3-for-4 and scored twice. The Astros have scored a Major League-best 137 runs in the 7th inning or later this season.

On the mound, it took Gerrit Cole nearly half his outing to settle in. In frames one through three he allowed four runs on four walks and three hits, one of them being a two-run home run by Wilson Ramos. Cole finished his night retiring 13 of the last 14 batters without allowing a hit.

Cole gave up five walks to the Rays, a season high, and of those five free baserunners three of them would score. His 116 total pitches Monday night were the most he has thrown this season, just two pitches more than his 16 strikeout night in Arizona May 4th. He had to find an adjustment

"Just listening to Brian (McCann), listening to Brent (Strom), talking just about a few things. I tried to incorporate them and I think they helped," Gerrit said.

Injury Update:

Relief pitcher Joe Smith has a few days left on the Disabled List and is expected to return soon. He played catch in Kansas City and is still undergoing treatment for elbow discomfort. Astros Manager A.J. Hinch expects him to be able to come off the 10-day DL when his stint ends rather than need more time on it.
