BREAKING: Durant Will Miss Remainder Of Series

Warriors announce Durant suffered a mild right calf strain

May 09, 2019 - 3:00 pm

The Golden State Warriors will be without Kevin Durant for the remainder of their Western Conference Semifinal series against the Rockets after an MRI revealed a mild right calf strain, the team announced Thursday.

Durant suffered the injury after making a jump shot with 2:11 left to play in the third quarter of the Warriors. He left the game shortly after and did not return. The Warriors say Durant will not travel with the team to Houston for Friday's game six and will be re-evaluated next week.

In his third season with the Warriors, Durant averaged 33.2 points per game this series against the Rockets after totaling 95 points in Golden State's final two games of its series against the Los Angeles Clippers. The 2017, 2018 Finals MVP is set to become an unrestricted free agent after the season.

Durant's injury is reminiscent of Chris Paul's in game five last season, which cost him the remainder of the series, which the Warriors came back to win in seven games.

If the Rockets avoid elimination Friday, game seven will be Sunday afternoon at Oracle Arena.
