HOUSTON (SPORTSRADIO 610) - During An Evening with Deshaun Watson in the Verizon Artist Lounge at the SportsRadio 610 studios, he shared his story of coming to Houston for the first time for the Super Bowl.

“Growing up, I never thought about coming to Texas… I have no idea why I didn’t. And then of course when I came to Houston for the super bowl, I didn’t think I was going to be back a month later. And so once I got drafted, and got here, and got situated, it’s one of the best cities. It’s the best city in the country. I love it here,” Watson said.

A month after the Super Bowl, he was visiting Houston as a draft prospect and being tested by Bill O’Brien and the Texans coaching staff.

“It was a very intense test. They were trying to test everything; my knowledge, if I fold under pressure, if I get nervous, anything,” Watson said.

O'Brien left Watson to draw some plays as part of the test. Deshaun said he was confident enough to draw each play going both directions, left and right. Needless to say, he impressed the Texans head coach.

“It was the perfect fit. In a situation, of course, at the time needing a quarterback, and being in a great city. A young city with a lot of talent. It was just a perfect fit. You couldn’t make it up.”
