HOUSTON (SPORTSRADIO 610) – Tomas Martinez and Mauro Manotas combine for two goals as the Dynamo defeat Colorado, 2-0.

Houston and Colorado were both coming into Saturday’s match with losing skids.  The Rapids saw their losing streak climb to eight matches while the Dynamo stopped their losing streak at two.

The Dynamo (6-5-3, 21 points) dominated from the start despite not scoring in the first half hour of the match.  Martinez started the scored in the 30th minute when he made a move to get space for a shot.  Colorado goalie Tim Howard saved the initial shot but the ball bounced to Martinez who then blasted the second attempt past Howard.

Six minutes later Manotas would step over a penalty kick and fired a show into the side netting to give the Dynamo a 2-0 lead.  The penalty kick followed a run by DaMarcus Beasley into the box in which he was fouled.

In the waning moments of the first half Colorado forward Yannick Boli caught Leonardo in the nose with his elbow and was assessed a red card.

With the Dynamo playing a man up in the second half, they were able to control possession and create scoring chances despite not scoring another goal.

The Dynamo won’t play an MLS match again until June 23 when they face Sporting Kansas City on the road.  Houston will also host Minnesota United FC on June 18 in the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup round of 16.
