HOUSTON (SPORTSRADIO 610) – Victor Rodriguez’ brace lifts Seattle to a 4-1 victory over the Dynamo, and eliminates the Dynamo from playoff contention.

For the second season in a row, the Seattle Sounders end the Dynamo dreams of an MLS Cup run.  This year it comes with still three games left in the regular season, last year it was in the Western Conference Finals.

Will Bruin, who scored 50 goals in his career donning the Dynamo orange, got the scoring started for Seattle in the 18th minute with a left footed strike past Joe Willis.  The goal was set up with the build from Nouhou and Cristian Roldan.

Roldan would make it 2-0 in the 34th minute on an assist from Nico Lodeiro.  Loderio sprung loose down the center channels, found Roldan to the right of the box, and then Roldan did the rest.

Victor Rodriguez would tack on two goals in the second half.  The first one coming in the 64th minute to make it a 3-0 Seattle lead, then again in the 73rd minute to extend the lead to 4-0.  Rodriguez came into the match with two goals on the season, and doubled his tally with two more Monday.

DaMarcus Beasley would finally put the Dynamo on the board in the 87th minute as he snuck a goal by Stefan Frei.  For Beasley, 36, you have to wonder if it was the final goal in his legendary career.  Even if Beasley sticks around for another year or two, it was his first goal since 2016.

The Dynamo continue their west coast swing as they face LAFC on Friday.
