HOUSTON (SPORTSRADIO 610) – Mauro Manotas scored the only goal of the night, but it was enough to give the Dynamo a 1-0 against Minnesota United FC.

With a week off, and the Dynamo not playing MLS competition until Saturday, Dynamo Head Coach Wilmer Cabrera used most of his regulars in the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup.

Chris Seitz started in goal for the Dynamo, Kevin Garcia, Alejandro Fuenmayor, Philippe Senderos, and Adam Lundqvist made up the backline, Eric Bird and Eric Alexander started in the defensive midfield, while Arturo Alvarez and Memo Rodriguez started on the wings with Luis Gil in the attacking midfield and Manotas as the striker.

The teams would play a scoreless first half, but the Dynamo got on the board early in the second half.  Lundqvist, off a corner, fired a pass to the near post that Manotas scored with a flicking header in the 47th minute.

Alberth Elis in the 60th minute, Romell Quioto in the 72nd minute and Tomas Martinez in the 83rd minute were the three subs for Cabrera in the second half.

Seitz saved five shots as the Dynamo saw the game through for the win.  Minnesota United FC had a chance to tie the match in the 88th minute off a penalty kick after a Martinez foul in the box.  Darwin Quintero would hit it off the post to preserve the Dynamo lead and eventual victory.

The Dynamo advance to the quarterfinals where they will host Sporting Kansas City on July 18.
