HOUSTON (SportsRadio 610)- After averaging close to 35 points per game and leading the Rockets to a 16-4 record, James Harden has been named KIA Western Conference Player of the Month for March/April, the NBA announced Thursday.

Harden grabbed 6.9 rebounds and dished out 7.1 assists to go with his 34.8 scoring average. He finished with more points (696) than minutes played (695) during that stretch. This is the third time this season Harden has won Player of the Month honors, and eighth time in his career, surpassing Hakeem Olajuwon for most in Rockets history.

The Rockets guard led the NBA in scoring this season, averaging 36.1 points per game, more than eight points ahead of second place finisher, Oklahoma City's Paul George.

Milwaukee's Giannis Antetokounmpo won Eastern Conference Player of the Month.

The Rockets finished the regular season 53-29 and will begin their playoff run against the Utah Jazz Sunday night at Toyota Center.
