HOUSTON (SportsRadio 610)- A day after the NBA named Rockets head coach Mike D'Antoni Western Conference Coach of the Month, the league announced Rockets guard James Harden as Western Conference Player of the Month for December.

Harden averaged over 36 points in 15 games during a month that saw the Rockets finish 11-4. He scored 50 points in a win over the Los Angeles Lakers on December 15 while putting up at least 35 in the Rockets' final eight games of December. To go along with the scoring numbers, the Rockets guard averaged six rebounds and eight assists per game while shooting over 41 percent from behind the 3-point line, and attempting close to 13 free throws.

This marks the sixth time Harden has been named Western Conference Player of the Month, tying Hakeem Olajuwon for the most in franchise history.

Milwaukee Bucks forward Giannis Antetokounmpo was named Eastern Conference Player of the Month.

Harden and the Rockets will be in action again Thursday when they take on the Golden State Warriors at Oracle Arena.
