Houston, Tx (SPORTSRADIO 610) - Lance McCullers is working hard to get back with the Houston Astros for the playoffs.

McCullers Jr. joined Mad Radio on Thursday for his regular weekly segment on SportsRadio 610, and discussed the rehab work that he's putting in to return in time for the playoffs.

"I'm throwing down here. I've done a lot of work to get back," said McCullers. "The entire time - the goal has been to take the rehab slow, take the rehab very methodically, and understand what the goal was."

McCullers, who went on the disabled list in early August with a muscle strain in his right forearm, has been throwing simulated games in preparation for his return and new role in the playoffs.

"[When> I initially got hurt, there was a discussion about me coming back for the first couple of games in Septemeber and trying to build up as a starter, but then we kinda realized - because of the injury and the time I would take off, my most likely role was going to be out of the bullpen," said McCullers. "So we said, 'Why don't we push it back a little bit and get me ready for the job I'm going to be doing and try to help the team win."

McCullers made two appearances out of the bullpen in the 2017 playoffs and started three playoff games, including Game 7 of the World Series.
