Houston is officially bidding for a XFL franchise

Kick-off would be in 2020

Houston (SPORTSRADIO 610) - There could be a new football team coming to Houston.

The Houston Sports Authority will be officially submitting a bid for Houston to host one of eight teams for the inaugural season of the XFL in 2020.

Proposed stadiums in the Houston area are BBVA Compass Stadium or the University of Houston's TDECU Stadium.

Vince McMahon announced in January that the XFL would return despite the success of the first iteration in 2001.

The former Houston Sports Authority CEO, Oliver Luck, was recently named the XFL CEO .
