HOUSTON (SportsRadio 610) - Major League Baseball announced that Houston Astros outfielder, Jake Marisnick, has received a two-game suspension and an undisclosed fine for the collision at home plate with Los Angeles catcher, Jonathan Lucroy.

Stream MLB games now on fuboTV.

MLB's chief baseball officer, Joe Torre, released a statement: "After thoroughly reviewing the play from all angles, I have concluded that Jake’s actions warrant discipline. While I do not believe that Jake intended to injure Jonathan, the contact he initiated in his attempt to score violated Official Baseball Rule 6.01(i), which is designed to protect catchers from precisely this type of collision.”

Lucroy suffered a concussion and a broken nose from the collision.

Marisnick has filed an appeal with Major League Baseball and is available to start Thursday night.
