Houston (SPORTSRADIO 610) - Jose Altuve underwent a successful surgery on his right knee on Friday in Houston, according to Astros General Manager and President of Baseball Operations Jeff Luhnow. Altuve is expected to be ready to play for Spring Training in 2019. He missed 21 games while on the Disabled List due to discomfort in that knee in his first career stint on the DL.

According to sources, the surgery was to repair a patella avulsion fracture in his right knee. An avulsion fracture happens when a small chunk of bone attached to a tendon or ligament gets pulled away from the bone. He is expected to make a full recovery.
