June Jones Named XFL Houston Head Coach And General Manager

Houston (SPORTSRADIO 610) - XFL Commissioner Oliver Luck announced June Jones as the Head Coach and General Manager of the XFL Houston team. Jones has coaching and player experience at the NCAA Division I and National Football League levels. He was previously head coach of the Canadian Football League Hamilton Tiger Cats for the past two seasons.

June was last a head coach in the NFL for the San Diego Chargers in 1998, and the Atlanta Falcons from 1994-1996. His record as an NFL head coach was (22-36). He was head coach at Southern Methodist University for seven seasons and University of Hawaii for nine more.

Jones completes the list of coaches for the eight-team league along with Jim Zorn (Seattle), Bob Stoops (Dallas), Marc Trestman (Tampa Bay), Kevin Gilbride (New York), Winston Moss (Los Angeles), Jonathan Hayes (St. Louis), and Pep Hamilton (Washington, D.C.). Commissioner Luck also announced that team names and logos are expected to be announced in June. In the following month, players are expected to begin signing with XFL teams.
