HOUSTON (SPORTSRADIO 610) –  While Texan rookie Justin Reid is trying to make a name for himself, the last name Reid carries a lot of attention around the NFL.

Free agent Eric Reid wants to play football and is willing to fight the NFL with grievances to prove collusion from NFL owners that are keeping him jobless.  His brother Justin’s attention is on becoming a successful player in the league.

“I haven’t had a lot of time to digest it yet, because I’ve been so focused on my own journey.  Getting prepared for the combine and then the draft, and now I’m moving on to a big chapter in my life getting moved on with the Houston Texans.  I haven’t had a lot of down time to really process my feelings on that,” Texan rookie Justin Reid expressed to the media ahead of rookie minicamp Friday.

Eric Reid was teammates with Colin Kaepernick in San Francisco and kneeled beside him during national anthem protests.

“If you held a conversation with him then you’d really understand what he’s standing for,” Justin Reid said.

Five-year-pro Eric Reid is a former Pro Bowler and has started 69 games.  The consensus is that he isn’t as good a player as he once was, but that he’s plenty good enough to have a job in the NFL if it was based on talent alone.

“I’m proud of my brother, I support him in everything that he does,” Justin Reid said.  “The same way I support all of my family members in everything that they’re doing.  If they believe what they’re doing is right, then they should do it.”
