WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (SportsRadio 610)- Justin Verlander went through his normal throwing routine, then took one of the mounds at the Astros complex and tossed his first bullpen of spring training Tuesday morning.

Verlander told SportsRadio 610 that he threw 44 or 45 pitches to Astros bullpen catcher Javier Bracamonte before addressing a scrum of reporters in the Astros clubhouse.

"I threw everything," Verlander said. "I definitely wouldn't say everything is working, but it's where it needs to be right now."

Last year's American League Cy Young winner was scheduled to throw a bullpen Friday, but pushed that back after throwing 60 pitches to new Astros catcher Dustin Garneau right before the start of spring training.

With more than five weeks left until opening day, Verlander says he had a particular goal Tuesday.

"(Establishing) Glove side location with the fastball is something I focus on," Verlander said. "I think to be able to replicate that side with the fastball is why my mechanics are most sound."
