HOUSTON (SportsRadio 610)- Jake Marisnick and Tyler White hit home runs as the Astros opened their 10-game homestand with a 3-0 win over the Chicago White Sox Monday night at Minute Maid Park.

After having scored an unearned run in the first inning, Marisnick hammered a first pitch curveball from Jace Fry off the Crawford Boxes for his fifth homer of the season, and in the next inning, White launched Jose Ruiz's 2-1 fastball over the train tracks for his first longball of 2019 in 98 plate appearances.

That was all the offense the Astros needed as Brad Peacock, Chris Devenski, Will Harris, Ryan Pressly, and Roberto Osuna combined for the Astros fifth shutout of the season.

Peacock improved to 5-2 by striking out five in the game's first five innings, surrendering just two hits. Devenski worked around a two-out single in the sixth, while Harris stranded a pair of runners in the seventh. After a 1-2-3 eighth inning from Pressly, Osuna allowed a single in the ninth as the Astros found a way back in the win column after their 10-game winning streak ended Sunday in Boston.

Michael Brantley and Tony Kemp had two hit nights for the Astros as they improve to 32-16 on the season.

Charlie Tilson was the sole White Sox to finish with two hits as they drop to 21-25.

Justin Verlander will take the mound for the Astros when they play game two of their four game series against the White Sox Tuesday night. He'll be opposed by Dylan Covey.
