HOUSTON (SPORTSRADIO 610) – The additions of Laremy Tunsil, Kenny Stills and Carlos Hyde have members of the Texans excited about what the offense can do.

Tunsil, 25, was brought in with one goal in mind, protect the franchise; Deshaun Watson.  Tunsil, a fourth year pro, is regarded as one of the best up and coming, young left tackles in football.

"I think it's a good addition to our roster for a lot of different reasons. I think that when you look at Laremy, yes he is an excellent pass protector, but there's so many other things he can do. He can run block, he's able to get his pads down, he works well with the guys next to him whether it's a tight end to his left or a guard to his right, he works very well with the guys next to him, he can pull out on screens. He's a very smart player, he's a very instinctive player,” Texans’ Head Coach Bill O’Brien told the media on Monday.

In addition to Tunsil, the Texans also acquired Kenny Stills.  The 27-year-old wide receiver has ability to play both outside and inside, which makes a solid insurance policy for the injury prone Will Fuller and Keke Coutee.

“Stills is a good football player, I’ve known him since high school, playing in an all-star game together. I’m familiar with Kenny, he’s a good football player,” Texans’ wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins said.

Stills has caught 21 touchdown passes the last three years, and speed is his game,

“The guy can slide, the guy is real fast,” Texans’ safety Justin Reid added.  “I’ve never had the chance to guard him before, but it’ll be interesting to see in practice what we will be able to do then.”

Carlos Hyde is the other piece the Texans acquired.  With the injury to Lamar Miller in the third preseason game, the Texans needed depth at the running back position and made a trade with Kansas City for the 28-year-old.

“Carlos, I think, is a solid first-, second-down runner, can help you in the passing game. I think there's a number of things he can do. I think that he's got good size relative to that position and he's had production in the past,” O’Brien said of his new running back.  “I think that he's had a good career and we were glad to be able to add him here. Obviously, losing Lamar (Miller), hard to replace Lamar, we're not trying to do that, we're just trying to add depth to that position and we think Carlos can possibly do that.”
