Trump Denies Seeking Coronavirus Advice From A-Rod

Back when he was a candidate running for highest office, President Trump famously promised to surround himself with the best and brightest.

Apparently this plan includes enlisting emergency response advice from retired athletes with no medical or scientific experience.

Trump reached out to retired baseball legend Alex Rodriguez to get his thoughts on the pandemic, according to multiple reports. The "pleasant" chat was held by phone call from the Oval Office, according to CeFaan Kim of ABC7 in New York.

The call was part of a larger "outreach across the country regarding the coronavirus," reported John Santucci of ABC News. It was unclear who else Trump had conferred with regarding the pandemic, if anyone.

Trump did not broach the topic of Rodriguez or his fiancee, pop star Jennifer Lopez, taking on an official roles in the coronavirus response, Santucci said.
