HOUSTON (SportsRadio 610)- According to multiple reports, forward Kenneth Faried intends to sign with the Rockets for the remainder of the season after he clears waivers Monday.

ESPN first reported late Friday night that Faried, 29, will be waived by the Brooklyn Nets after he and the team agree on a buyout for the rest of his $13.7 million salary. When he does clear, he will join the Rockets for the veteran's minimum, filling a hole at center left by right thumb injury suffered by Clint Capela that will keep him out 4-6 weeks.

Faried has only played in 12 games with Brooklyn this season after being acquired in a trade from the Denver Nuggets. He was a double-digit scorer his first five seasons in the NBA, after being drafted 22nd overall out of Morehead State. He's averaged 11.3 points, 8.1 rebounds per game over his eight NBA seasons. He did not play in Brooklyns 145-142 overtime win over the Rockets at Toyota Center Wednesday night.

In order to sign Faried, the Rockets will have to clear out a roster spot, with the most likely candidate being Carmelo Anthony who left the team over two months ago. The Athletic reported Friday that there is some interest in Anthony around the NBA.

The Rockets are 29-15 this season and will host the Los Angeles Lakers at Toyota Center Saturday night. Faried's first game with the team could be in Philadelphia Monday.
