A day after swinging a trade for Russell Westbrook, the Rockets continued to add to their roster by agreeing to a 1-year deal with center Tyson Chandler.

Listen to your team news NOW.

Chandler, 39, split last season between the Los Angeles Lakers and Phoenix Suns, averaging 3.1 points and 5.6 rebounds over 55 games. He will fill the Rockets backup center spot that became open when Nene declined the option on the final year of his contract June 29.

An All Star in 2013, Chandler was the NBA's Defensive Player of the Year in 2012 when he was briefly coached by Rockets head coach Mike D'Antoni. The 18-year veteran has been an All NBA Defensive Team selection three times.

With the addition of Chandler, the Rockets have 10 players with guaranteed contracts for next season.
