HOUSTON (SportsRadio 610)- Rockets guard Eric Gordon is getting closer to making his return from knee surgery, head coach Mike D'Antoni said Monday.

“Everything is progressing great, so we’re getting into the days where, I don’t know if he’s day to day yet, but he’s definitely week to week for sure."

Gordon underwent arthoscopic surgery on his right knee November 13, which will be five weeks ago Wednesday. The team said he'd miss 6-8 weeks. The Houston Chronicle reported Friday that Gordon has started the running part of his rehab. He was averaging just 11.2 points per game on 31 percent shooting before the operation, and D'Antoni said it will be slow build up for the 30-year old when he does return.

"When he does come back he can play 20 minutes or 15 minutes and just ramp him up. Then it depends on him, he could play great right at first or it could take awhile. You never know.

The Rockets Christmas Day game against the Golden State Warriors will mark six weeks since Gordon went under the knife, which happens to be his 31st birthday.
