HOUSTON (SportsRadio 610)- A year after being named the NBA's Executive of the Year, Rockets general manager Daryl Morey has agreed to a 5-year contract extension to remain with the team.

"I'm super happy," Morey told the Houston Chronicle. "I'd love to be with the Rockets for life. This obviously solidifies us for a little while."

Morey was in the final year of his contract, his 12th season as Rockets general manager.

"We wanted to make sure that Daryl stays locked up," Rockets owner Tilman Fertitta told Fox 26. "I think he wanted to make sure he was welcome here in Houston. We have a good working relationship. You want to keep good people under contract."

Under Morey, the Rockets are headed for their seventh straight playoff appearance, matching a franchise record, and have advanced to the Western Conference Finals twice in the last four years.
