April 11, 2018 - 9:46 pm

HOUSTON (SportsRadio 610)- The Rockets will begin their 2018 postseason run against the Minnesota Timberwolves in the Wolves first playoff appearance since 2004.

Minnesota needed a 112-106 overtime win over the Denver Nuggets just to qualify for the playoffs, finishing the season 47-35, tied with the San Antonio Spurs for the seventh best record in the West, but lost the tiebreaker, dropping the Wolves to the 8-seed.

The Rockets finished the season 4-0 against the Wolves, winning the first three meetings by double-digits. The one game the Rockets won by single digits was a 129-120 win in Minneapolis March 18, a game the Rockets led by 21 at halftime. The Rockets had James Harden and Chris Paul for all four meetings, while Jimmy Butler missed that March 18 matchup.

The Rockets and Wolves have met one time in the playoffs, a Rockets 3-game sweept in the first round of the 1997 Playoffs.
