Rockets Playoff Opponent Scenarios

Rockets could face Thunder, Spurs, Pelicans or Wolves

April 11, 2018 - 3:21 am

For almost two weeks, the Rockets have known they'll enter the playoffs with the NBA's best record, but with one night in the regular season, they still have no idea who they will play in the first round.

The Rockets could face the Oklahoma City Thunder, San Antonio Spurs, New Orleans Pelicans, or Minnesota Timberwolves. It will all depend on the outcomes of the following three games:

Memphis at Oklahoma City

San Antonio at New Orleans

Denver at Minnesota

If Oklahoma City loses its game, the Rockets will take on the Thunder, that one is simple and its the only way the Rockets would take on the team they dispacted in round one a year ago. The other scenarios are a little more complex.

Rockets play San Antonio if:

OKC beats Memphis

Denver beats Minnesota

New Orleans beats San Antonio

Rockets play Minnesota if:

OKC beats Memphis

Minnesota beats Denver

New Orleans beats San Antonio

Rockets play New Orleans if:

OKC beats Memphis

San Antonio beats New Orleans

Only five teams know what seed they'll actually be when the playoffs begin, and we still don't know a single playoff matchup.
