Houston (SPORTSRADIO 610) - Texans tight end Jordan Thomas nearly had an excellent touchdown catch and celebration Saturday night at NRG Stadium. He caught the ball out of bounds and continued into the tunnel in the corner of the field. The Texans would go on to defeat the Lions by a final score of 30-23.

"It really wasn't a celebration, honestly. As you know, I am a big guy so I cant just stop on a dime. Ain't no telling what will happen, so I just went on through the tunnel. I just couldn't stop, and then I got to the asphalt in the tunnel and I almost slipped, so I just kept going. It really wasn't a celebration, it became a celebration," Thomas said.

After suffering a minor hamstring injury in camp, Jordan said he has been working himself back into rhythm with the offense. He came up with two catches for 17 yards, but also had a couple drops. Those miscues stood out to him the most.

"Yeah I have a lot of catching up to do, as you've seen... Two dropped balls," Thomas said.

Texans Head Coach Bill O'Brien felt that Jordan had a good night. Bill acknowledged that it did not start that way, but before looking at the film he said that he felt good about Jordan's performance. Despite the drops, coach was happy with his progression.

"I think he got better as the game went along. I think in the beginning he was kind of drifting into his routes a little bit, he sharpened that up. He sharpened his blocking up as the game went on, and he got better," O'Brien said.
