Texans Pick Up Option On Kevin Johnson

CB With Texans Through 2019

HOUSTON (SPORTSRADIO 610) –  The Texans have picked up the fifth year option on CB Kevin Johnson for 2019.

Johnson, 25, was drafted by the Texans with the No. 16 pick in the 2015 NFL Draft.

In three seasons with the Texans, Johnson has played in 34 games with 100 tackles and one interception.

After missing 10 games in 2016 due to a broken foot, many considered Johnson to take a step back last year.

Johnson will make just over $9 million in 2019 which includes an injury guarantee. 

The secondary in 2018 will be coached by Anthony Midget who is the secondary coach after four years with the club as an assistant secondary coach.

Johnson will find a few new teammates in the secondary position as well with the signings of cornerback Aaron Colvin and safety Tyrann Mathieu.
