(SportsRadio 610) -- The Tennessee Titans are interested in signing free agent and former Texans No. 1 overall pick Jadeveon Clowney.

Titans general manager Jon Robinson told reporters Wednesday the team had been in contact with Clowney's agent about a possible deal, but "nothing is imminent."

Clowney is reportedly seeking a contract worth $20 million a year, and recently struck down a deal from the Miami Dolphins worth $17 million a year.

The Dolphins had been pursuing Clowney even before he was traded from the Texans to the Seattle Seahawks last year.

The Texans, instead of using the franchise tag to retain Clowney last season, traded him to the Seahawks for Barkevious Mingo, Jacob Martin and a third-round pick they ultimately flipped for cornerback Gareon Conley from the Raiders.

Clowney, who was the No. 1 overall pick by the Texans in the 2014 NFL Draft, is considered around the league to be an elite talent and disruptive edge rusher. He has never recorded double digit sacks in his six-year career.

Adding Clowney would presumably bolster the Titans in the AFC South. The Titans, who appeared in the AFC Championship game this past season, also just added outside linebacker Vic Beasley.
