In his first season with the Houston Texans, S Tyrann Mathieu has already found the place he would like to spend the rest of his career.

After spending his first five seasons with the Arizona Cardinals, and his final season with them leaving a bad taste in Mathieu's mouth, the 6th year defensive back said that Houston is definitely a place he would like to call home permanently.

"I'm just gonna take some time and really reflect, but like I said last night, I really want to be here. I love this team, I love the locker room, I love the coaching staff. Hopefully the business side will take care of itself, but I definitely want to be here... A lot of these guys give me life this season. Coming from a situation where I was really humbled, a lot of these guys really embraced me and gave me the confidence. Luckily I was able to return the favor. I think these guys mean as much to me as I mean to them," Mathieu said of his first year with the team.

Mathieu had 89 total tackles, 3 sacks, and 2 interceptions this year, while also serving as one of the teams most vocal and active veteran leaders.

It isn't just the relationship Mathieu had established with his teammates this year either after becoming a big influence of the field and in the community.

Mathieu says the relationship he's established with the city is one that he cherishes, “I was humbled when I came to this team. You know, a lot of these people here embraced me, encouraged me and really saw the best in me. I think that was able to allow me to really have a clear mind, really focus on football, and really be a good teammate. So I think this year was a success... everybody in Texas was always there for me, especially supporting me any time I did anything in the community as far as charity. I feel like this is a good fit for me and like I said this will be a long off-season and I'm sad we ended," he said.

With a lot of decisions for the Texans this off-season with other free agents, it will be interesting to see how Mathieu fits into their plans moving forward.
