Goodbye, Tyrann Mathieu. What's next for the Texans?

Is the best safety already on the Texans' roster?

HOUSTON (SPORTSRADIO 610) - Tyrann Mathieu will not return to the Houston Texans, per league sources, as reported by Adam Schefter. Mathieu will sign with the Kansas City Chiefs for three-years at $42 million.

News broke Monday morning that the Texans offered Mathieu a long-term deal near $9.5 million per year, and later, John McClain reported that the Texans offered $11 million per year to the Honey Badger.

The Texans still have options at safety in free agency with Adrian Amos and Early Thomas still available on the market and there is still Andre Hal, who returned from battling cancer to play in the last eight games of the season - recording three interceptions and thirteen tackes.

But could the best safety already be on the roster?

If you look at Justin Reid's stats last season, he arguably was the best safety on the roster with 88 tackles and three interceptions and the return against the Washington Redskins.
