Westbrook's Triple-Double Leads Rockets Over Suns

Third straight triple-double for Rockets guard

HOUSTON (SportsRadio 610)- Russell Westbrook scored 24 points, grabbed 14 rebounds, and dished out 11 assists for his third straight triple-double in the Rockets 115-109 win over the Phoenix Suns Saturday night at Toyota Center. 

Westbrook shot 10-of-18 from the field, hoisting just shots from behind the three-point line, while adding three steals and two blocked shots. He now has six triple-doubles this season as the Rockets improved to 15-7 on the season.

The Rockets survived a slow start, shooting less than 35 percent in a first quarter that saw the Suns jump out to a 20-9 lead. The quarter ended with Phoenix up 31-23, but the Rockets flipped the script in the second, shooting 62.5 percent, outscoring the Suns 37-21 to take an 8-point lead into the locker room. 

Houston pushed the lead to 11 early in the second half only to see the Suns tie the game with a 13-2 run. After the teams traded buckets to make it 67-67, the Rockets blew the game open with a 16-3 burst, but could never put the Suns away. Phoenix closed the gap to five when Cameron Johnson connected from long distance with 22.8 seconds left in the period, and Kelly Oubre Jr's dunk with 9:02 left in the final period tied the game, and while the tied the game two more times after that they could never take the lead. James Harden drilled a three to break the game's final tie, starting a 20-8 run. The Suns closed the gap some, but could never get closer than five points. 

Harden led the Rockets with 34 points despite shooting just 8-of-27 from the field. 26 of those points came after halftime.

Ben McLemore poured in 27 points off the bench.

Devin Booker led all scorers with 35 points, but the Suns shot less than 42 percent from the field.

The Rockets will be back in action Monday night when they host the Sacramento Kings at Toyota Center.
