What's New at NRG Stadium in 2019?

Rootes: 'We want it to be an invitation to a taste of Houston, the Culinary Capital of the South'

HOUSTON (SPORTSRADIO 610) – Each and every year the Texans unveil new features for the upcoming season, whether it’s food or gameday experience activities, the Texans take it a step further every season.  This year’s list doesn’t disappoint.

Let’s start with the food.  There’s a lot of it, and it’s all very good. 

  • Killen’s Barbecue Frito Pie: Classic Fritos topped with cheddar cheese and the world famous Killen’s smoked brisket on top.
  • HTX Brisket Melt: A grilled cheese brisket sandwich served with a house-made peach BBQ sauce and spicy pork rinds.

NRG Stadium will also feature a trio of new partners in 2019.

  • Gringo’s Tex-Mex brings their Gringo’s Sampler and Street Tacos to Texan’s fans this year.
  • BB’s Tex-Orleans Café, a Houston staple, will serve Cajun Empanadas, Shrimp Po’ Boys and Bacon Wrapped Chicken Skewers.
  • Curds & Cakes will make J.J. Watt happy as they will add their tasty cheese curds to the NRG Stadium menu.  They will be available in Original or Blue Moon Jalapeno flavors.

The Club Level will add four new items to the menu and also welcome in a new partner.

  • Dish Society, well known around Houston, partners with the Texans in 2019 and will cook up their delicious shrimp and grits.

New items in the Club Level include;

  • The Original Ninfa’s beef brisket tinga: slow braised brisket served with sour cream, cheddar cheese, pico de galo on your choice of tortillas, nacho chips or nacho salad bowl.   
  • Chef Chris Shepherd’s Bacon Sausage Dog with Pimento cheese on a pretzel bun: The name says it all.
  • Goode Co. BBQ:  Will provide a variety of their tasty items on a weekly basis.

If you’re not hungry and just looking for a drink, the Ultimate Bloody Mary Bar will have you covered.  Bloody Mary toppers include shrimp, candied bacon and chicken wings.  Also, Jameson Whiskey will offer Frozen Mules.

“We want it to be an invitation to a taste of Houston, the Culinary Capital of the South,” Texans’ President Jamey Rootes summed up perfectly when describing the concession items inside of NRG Stadium.

Kroger will provide convenience stores inside the stadium with their Kroger Gridiron Grab N’ Go where fans can find just about anything.

Verizon customers will have a chance to receive amazing prices such as sideline seats, autographed items and more when they redeem, their points.

In addition to the delicious food, the Texans have added Ring of Honor suites as they join two reception areas together and added items to celebrate the Texans’ legends to uniquely identify the spacious and luxurious suites as the Ring of Honor suites.  Renovation inside the suites for all of the Luxe members to enjoy are in place for 2019.  New lighting and new back splashes will add a more modern look. New, upscale wood style floors have also been installed to enhance the atmosphere of the suites. 

A new women’s merchandise collection will also be new for 2019.  The merchandise will feature Houston based fashion illustrator, Rongrong DeVoe’s custom drawings.  The collection will be available at the Houston Texans’ team shop and online at Shop.HoustonTexans.com.

Also, a 50/50 jackpot will be held during every Texans’ game in 2019.  The Houston Texans Foundation will host the jackpot that will see one Texans’ fan going home with half the jackpot, while the other half will support the Houston Texans Foundation and their mission to be champions for youth.
